Kyrgyzstan is a perfect place to have an ethnographic tour. During this tour you will live with local people in order to find out more about their life, traditions and rituals. You will make traditional food, milk cows and horses and also you will try to build a nomadic house - yurt!


Tour itinerary:

Day 1:  Bishkek
Your guide will pick you up at Manas International Airport and accompany you to Bishkek City (30 min. drive), where you will start the day with a breakfast. Then you will go to have a rest in a local family of Dungan people. Dungans are Chineses Musliems. They escaped from China many years ago and many of them live in the territory of Kyrgyzstan. They have a lot of unusual traditions and customs. Your guide will tell you about them and it will be possible to find out about ther life style.Then you will have an excursion to Natural Park Ala-Archa. It is situated in the Ala-Arch gorge, on the Kyrgyz ridge (a spur of Tien-Shan), in 45 km from Bishkek-capital of Kyrgyzstan. You will go to the top of a mountain to have a nice view of this famous gorge. Returing to Bishkek. Traditional dinner will be made by ... you and Dungan family!!! You will personally participate in the national cusine making. They will tell you about the secrets of national food and then you will try it. This night you will spend with this family.

Day 2:  Bishkek - Suusamir
The day starts with a breakfast at 8 o'clock. Afterwards we start our trip to Suusamir valley by car. Along the whole way you will plenty of picturesque places that will amaze you by their beauty. This night you will spend with a local family.

Day 3:  Suusamir - Son Kul Lake
After breakfast we start our drive to the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan Son Kul Lake. Lunch will be taken on the way. Son Kul Lake is surrounded by mountains and it is the highest alpine lake in Kyrgyzstan, situated at an altitude of 3013 meters above sea level. Kyrgyz nomads started to come to this wonderful area with their families for rest and relaxation. Herders of the Naryn region come to the lake to use it as a pastureland. After our arrival, you will be free to explore and enjoy the virgin nature of the lake and its surroundings. In the evening you will erect a yurt - collapsible nomadic dwelling that is made without using a single nail. Dinner and overnight in nomadic collapsible dwellings - yurts. It is made of a wooden skeleton, covered with felt coverings. Yurts are built without nails.

Day 4:   Son Kul Lake
At 9 am is your breakfast. In the morning you will milk cows and horses then you will participate in making national drink Kumis. Kumis is mare's milk. It is a fermented drink and it has a vey unusual taste. Afterwards is free time at Son-Kul Lake, where you will have the opportunity to explore its nature on your own. You can ride along the lake on a horse, or just relaxing in the atmosphere of the wild, but calm nature.  Lunch will be served at 2 pm. Then you will see also ancient petrogliphs and ritual stones of shamans. It is a great chance to get acquainted with nomadic traditions and culture. National dinner will be served in original nomadic houses - yurts. You will spend the night in yurts as nomads do.

Day 5:   Song Kul Lake - Kochkor valley
After a strengthening breakfast you will be transferred to Kochkor village (185 km). At the Kochkorka village you will meet a family that shows you the way of how national woolen felt carpets are produced. You even can create your own carpet. You will have a traditional dinner with a local family, accompanied by a special national music show. Overnight in the Kochkor Guesthouse.

Day 6:   Kochkor - Issyk Kul Lake - Djeti Oguz
The day starts with a breakfast at 8 o'clock. Then you will be transferred to the celestial Issyk-Kul Lake, the second largest alpine lake in the world (1608m.above sea level). The Lake is also called "the pearl of Central Asia". Thanks to the salty water, Lake Issyk Kul possesses curative qualities.  Today you will have lunch in Dungan village with a local family. You will try national cuisine and also you will see their gardens with vegetables and fruits. This nation is famous for their craft to work on earth. After lunch you will continue your trip to the one of the most famous places in Kyrgyzstan - Djeti Oguz gorge! This place is famous for its red rocks and the Broken Heart Mountain. After this we will drive further along the gorge and mountain river and we will come to the yurt camp where you will spend the night.

Day 7:   Djeti Oguz - Karakol - Altin Arashan - Karakol
The day starts with a breakfast at 8 o'clock. Afterwards you will start your trip to Karakol town by car (25 km). As soon as you will leave your baggage in a guest house you will be transferred to Altin Arashan gorge.

Altin Arashan ("Golden Spa") gorge is one of the most famous gorges in Karakol because of the Tian-Shan fur trees that grow everywhere there. After light hiking in this amazing gorge you will take lunch right there to enjoy the incredible beauty of this place. Afterwards you will hike back to the car and transferred to the city. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. Night in a home stay with a local family.

Day 8:   Karakol - Cholpon Ata
Breakfast is served at 8 o'clock. In the morning you will visit the Dungan mosque. One of its highlights is the fact that it is built in Chinese style without using a single metal nail. This will be followed by the visit of an old wooden Orthodox Church. After them you will visit of the museum of M.V. Prejvalsky, one of the world's greatest explores. His biggest achievements were the crossing of the great desert Taklamakan and the discovery of more than 4000 animals, including the Horse of Prejevalsky. After that you will be transferred to Cholpon Ata city along the along the northern shore of the sparkling pearl of Central Asia - Issyk-Kul Lake(120km). On the way, we will make a short break at 1 pm, where you can enjoy lunch in a relaxed atmosphere. You will spend the night in a Hotel that is situated on the shore of the Issyk Kul Lake.

Day 9: Cholpon Ata - Chon Kemin
The day starts with a breakfast at 8 o'clock. Then you will be transferred to Chon Kemin valley by car.  On the way we will give you the opportunity to visit ancient stone inscriptions (dating back to 800 B.C.), including the local museum. Afterwards you will have drive along the northen shore of Issyk Kul Lake and then along the Boom gorge. Almost the whole way you will drive along the mountain river that flows in the Boom gorge. You will be served dinner in "Kalmak Ashuu" Guesthouse, where you will also spend the night.

Day 10: Chon Kemin - Bishkek
You will be served breakfast at 8 o'clock. Then you will be transferred to Bishkek city. On the way visiting of Burana Tower (minaret of 11 century) and an open air museum of Balbans (stone warriors). When you will come in Bishkek you will have a city tour. At 7 pm a farewell dinner is served. Night in a home stay with a local family.

Day 11: Bishkek - Europe
Your guide will meet you at the hotel at the pick up time arranged previously according to your flight details and accompany you to Manas International Airport.
