You are going to discover for yourself wonderfully quiet place in our busy world! While hiking along the Great Silk Way you won't only see diverse mountain landscapes, sceneries and the world's 2nd largest heavenly Lake Issyk - Kul, but also try to live in the nomadic conditions.
Day 1: Arrival in Bishkek
You will be met by your guide at Manas Airport. The transfer till Bishkek will take only half an hour. After accommodation in a hotel***, where you start the day with a breakfast. The Hotel is situated in a calm area of the city you will have a rest. Afterwards you will have an excursion to the Park Ala-Archa. It is located in the Ala-Arch gorge, on the Kyrgyz ridge (a spur of Tien-Shan), in 45 km from Bishkek - capital of Kyrgyzstan. You will go to the top of a mountain to have a nice view of this famous gorge. Returing to Bishkek. Night in a Hotel***. Traditional food will be served at 7 p.m.
Day 2: Bishkek - Jukku gorge
Morning meal is at 7 o'clock. Afterwards, you will start your trip to Jukku gorge
by bus and you will be told by your guide about nomads' life, customs and their extraordinary traditions. This day, way we will visit the Burana Tower (minaret of the 11 century) and its attached open air museum of Balbals - stone warriors; we will see the startling Boom gorge; the southern shore of the celestial Issyk-Kul Lake, which is 2nd largest mountainous lake in the world (1608 m. above sea level). The Lake is also known as "the pearl of Central Asia". Then will continue our way to the Jukku gorge. On the arrival in Jukku gorge you will have hike over this gorge to our tent camp. Dinner will be served in the camp, where you will also spend the night.
Day 3: Jukku gorge
In Jukku gorge, today, you will have acclimatization. This day you walk around and explore its nature on your own. There are red rocks, mountains and the cave that has the name "500 rams". To take a bath in mineral hot water springs you could hike along the incredible gorge. It is also possible to go on the nearest peaks of the gorge, visit red mountains or just relax in calm nature atmosphere. There are nomads who still come to this summer pastures with their livestock and live in yurts. The Kyrgyz nomads are friendly and very hospitable. There it is possible to try national drink Kumis (mare's milk that is fermented). It is a great chance to get acquainted with nomadic traditions and culture. You will see the way of national food preparing and to be closer to nomads' life you will have a chance even to take part in the process. At 7 o'clock in the evening national dinner will be served.
Day 4: Jukku gorge - Chon Kyzyl Suu
After breakfast we are off for a hike through the Jukka gorge (2520m above sea level) to the gorge Chon Kyzyl Suu. You will hike along the Great Silk Ro just as well as ancient traders did. During this unforgettable trip you will see our heavenly mountains and terrific views of its pristine nature. You will stop for a night at the campsite based right in the gorge.
Day 5: Chon Kyzyl Suu
At 9 a.m. we leave the camp after having delicious breakfast. We begin our hiking tour to (2800m) Ashu Tor marvelous Pass. You might see mountain goats, ibex with a bit of luck. You will have an ascent to the amazing mountain lake after your lunch. The Lake finds its origin in the glacier. We come back to the station after enjoying mountain lake views. You will feel as if you are 1000 thousand years ago in wild Tian Shan Mountains. This place is so distant from civilization and you can relax completely there. You could even take part in the cooking process of national dish "plov". Our cooks will teach you the way of national meals making.
Day 6: Chon Kyzyl Suu - Djeti Oguz
After a delicious traditional breakfast we will start our way to impressive Djeti Oguz gorge. You will have hiking along magnificient places and you will be surprised who changeable our mountains. They views change so fast that you cannot even notice how the time passes.
Day 7: Djeti Oguz - Oguz Bashi - Djeti Oguz
You will have hiking today up to the glacier of Oguz Bashi. You will have a nice picnic with a view of the glacier and then we will return back to the camp. On our way you will see many yurts - nomadic collapsible habitations. Yurt represents wooden skeleton that is covered with thin felt mats.
Day 8: Djeti Oguz
You will have a number of guides and that is why you can choose what to do. In the morning you will have time to walk in this pictorial defile. Some of you can hike to a mountain waterfall; others can go down the gorge to a healt resort that was constructed in 1928. It will be possible to take a bath with hot springs and have massage there if you wish. Or you can hike to the Rocks that have unusual forms. For the reason that of these red rocks the whole gorge was named. Djeti Oguz means "Seven Bulls". Without a doubt it looks like huge bulls from a far distance. Your guides will tell you a beautiful legend about the Broken Heart Mountain. In the evening you will taste national meal - kurdak. You can also participate in its making to reveal all secrets of nomadic cuisine. During your farewell mountain dinner you will enjoy Kyrgyz Folklore show. You will hear the nomadic tunes and melodies and extraordinary national Kyrgyz instruments.
Day 9: Djeti Oguz - Issyk Kul Lake
At 9 o'clock in the morning you will be served breakfast. Pack your luggage. After that you hike down Djeti Oguz Gorge. A nice mountain river with the same name flows along the whole gorge. You could walk for 15 minutes on the top of the nearest mountain when we will come to the bottom of the gorge. There is a scenic view on Djeti Oguz Rocks and Red Mountains around. Transfer is along the northern shore of the Issyk Kul Lake (1608m.above sea level). Issik - Kul is the 2nd world's largest mountain lake. The Lake is also known as "Central Asian Pearl". In the guesthouse dinner is to be served.
Day 10: Issyk Kul - Bishkek
Today, it will be our final trip. You will have breakfast at 8 o'clock. Then we start our trip back to Bishkek city (the capital of Kyrgyzstan). In Bishkek you will have time to go for a walk around the city and to buy souvenirs for your family and friends. At 7 p.m. a farewell dinner is served.
Day 11: Flight home
You will be transferred to the airport of Manas in the early morning.
